Carolyn Wombacher Chelf, 81, of Fayetteville passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at her residence with her family by her side.
Carolyn was born on February 24, 1941, in rural Johnson County, Iowa to the late Ernest Wombacher and Genevieve Hradek Wombacher.
She was a retired teachers assistant from Ponderosa Elementary School, where she was a past Teachers Assistant of the Year.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at the Church.
A private burial will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Chelf.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth W. Chelf; sons, Philip Chelf and wife Laura Beth, Jeffrey Chelf ; daughters, Christine Faircloth and husband Mark, Kelly MacDonald and husband Tobey; sister-in-law, Jan Chelf; brothers, Raymond Wombacher and wife Nancy, Walter Wombacher and wife Kate, Ernest “Jack” Wombacher and wife Kathy; sisters, Phyllis Rohret and husband Ronald, Beverly Kiedaisch, Marlene Frantz and husband Harry; grandchildren, Danielle Chelf, Megan Paddock and husband Burke, Kaitlyn Chelf, Andy and Zachary Chelf, Khristian and Tanika Fink, Carter and Addison Chelf, Jessie and Jake Faircloth, Oliver and Stella MacDonald.
