Charles Leonard Horner, 80, passed away on November 7, 2022. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Gilbert and Ann Horner and his brother, Jack R. Horner. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Chung Horner. He also leaves behind his children, Candice (Maurice) Horner, John Wesley (KC) Horner, and Cathy (John) Tabor; and his sister, Janice Melton-Horner. Charles was born in Hope Mills, NC on April 22, 1942. He served 22 years in the military before retiring at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. Charles had an illustrious military career serving two tours in Vietnam, three tours in Germany and earned numerous accolades including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, 17 Air medals, and Army Commendation medals. A testament to his hardworking nature, Charles went on to open several successful businesses over his lifetime. A memorial service will be held at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 2 PM. A funeral reception will follow immediately afterwards at 1285 John McMillan Rd, Hope Mills, NC 28348. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Green Springs Baptist Church, 1095 East Green Springs Baptist Church, Parkton, NC 28371 or to the DAV Chapter 46, 520 Johnson St Fayetteville, NC 28303 in Charles’ honor.
