Posted

Lachelle H. Pulliam has been appointed as the interim city attorney by the Fayetteville City Council.

Her appointment was effective Sept. 16 and will be in effect until a new city attorney is hired, according to a news release.

Pulliam has been an assistant city attorney since February 2020. She has represented the city in environmental court and advised multiple boards and commissions, council committees and the City Council, the release says.

City Attorney Karen McDonald, who had been in that job since 2002, resigned to accept the same job with the city of Raleigh.

Pulliam’s experience includes serving as judicial affairs coordinator at Johnson C. Smith University and managing her own law practice. She briefly served as an assistant solicitor for the city of Atlanta.

Pulliam is from Fayetteville and is a graduate of E.E. Smith High School. She is a member of the Methodist University Founders Council and the North Carolina Association of Municipal Attorneys.

She earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Meredith College and a law degree from Charlotte School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and Georgia.
