Sheriff’s Office shuts down Coliseum Inn, citing numerous reports of crime

Posted

Citing a history of calls reporting homicides, drug overdoses, shootings, domestic violence and thefts, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has shut down the Coliseum Inn on Gillespie Street.

The Sheriff’s Office issued an abatement and injunction order citing the motel on Monday, according to a news release.

With the property closed, the Sheriff's Office can devote officers to other areas that need law enforcement, the release said.

Nuisance and abatement signs are posted at the motel. Anyone who is caught on the property will be charged with trespassing, the release said.

The Sheriff's Office said the Bel-Aire Community Watch and the state Alcohol Law Enforcement Agency assisted in the shutdown of the motel.
