COVID-19 testing to resume at Health Pavilion North

Posted

The drive-through COVID-19 testing site at Health Pavilion North will reopen next week, Cape Fear Valley Health System said Thursday.

The site is scheduled to reopen Tuesday after being closed for two weeks because of issues with testing supplies.

The health system announced Jan. 24 that the site was closing, and it remains closed this week as well.

Christopher Tart, vice president of the pharmacy and the cancer center, said the combination of decreased demand for testing and resolved supply issues made it possible to reopen the site.

“We are seeing demand drop, so our forecast for demand is improved,” Tart said in a news release. “We are also now confident that we have enough supplies to reopen the site and still be able to meet the testing needs of the hospitals and clinics.”

The site administered a high of 300 tests in one day prior to the temporary closing, Chaka Jordan, a spokeswoman for the hospital system said in an email. The number of tests administered was between 200 and 300 per day prior to the temporary closing, she said.

The testing site is at 6387 Ramsey St. It will be open Tuesdays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for people age 5 and over. Testing is done on a first-come, first-served basis as capacity allows. Appointments are not necessary.

The site administers polymerase chain reaction (PCR) COVID-19 tests. Patients can access their results online through the myChart patient portal, www.capefearvalley.com/mychart, by calling 910- 615-TEST (8378), or in person at the Cape Fear Valley Health Pavilion North pharmacy. Results are typically available in 24 to 48 hours, the health system said in the release.

For patients with insurance, the COVID-19 tests are fully covered with no out-of-pocket costs, the release said. Patients without insurance will be billed $100, the release said.
