Cumberland County’s Community development Department will host a series of town hall meetings for its 2024 Annual Action Plan beginning in January, the county announced Friday.

“Community Development administers programs to benefit low- to moderate-income families and to help preserve and expand the supply of decent, safe, affordable housing in Cumberland County,” a news release says.

The county said it expects $1.35 million in federal funding. The county is soliciting feedback from residents on which projects should be prioritized in their communities for the 2024 program year, which begins July 1, according to the news release.

The meetings will be held:

  • Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Stedman Town Hall, 5110 Front St.
  • Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Hope Mills Town Hall, 5770 Rockfish Road.
  • Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Wade Town Hall, 7128 Main St.
  • Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Linden Town Hall, 9456 Academy St.
  • Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Godwin Town Hall, 7827 Royal St.
  • Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Falcon Town Hall, 7156 South West St.
  • Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Spring Lake Town Hall, 300 Ruth St.
  • Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Eastover Community Center, 4008 School St.

The annual action plan must be submitted by the county each year to describe “the specific projects that will be undertaken in 2024,” the release said. The community development department focuses on programming aimed at low- to moderate-income families and maintaining affordable, safe housing, according to the release.

Residents are also invited to participate in the 2024 Housing and Community Needs Survey, which closes Jan. 31, according to the release.
