Della Irene Washburn Patterson, 78, of Eastover, NC passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022. 

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, July 21, 2022, in Salem United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Gil Wise and Rev. Melinda Ivey.   The family will receive visitors at 1:00 pm in the church sanctuary.  The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Della was born in Shelby, NC.  Her family moved to Godwin, NC, when she was a young girl.  She was the daughter of Rayman and Madie Washburn.  She attended Central High School where she was editor for the high school yearbook.  She was also named Miss Congeniality her junior year. 

Della married her high school sweetheart, Johnny Patterson.  They were happily married for 51 years.  They enjoyed a wonderful life with their children, taking trips to the beach, spending time with their grandsons, church activities, and civic community events.  Della worked in the legal field most of her adult life.  She retired from Hutchens Law Firm.  “Her faith remained strong throughout the years she battled loss and sickness.  She was an inspiration to those who were suffering loss” as described by a dear friend.

She leaves a daughter, Alice Rose Patterson Armentrout and husband Scott W. Armentrout of Radford, VA; two grandchildren, Dylan Scott Armentrout and John Alexander “Zan” Armentrout, and daughter-in-law, Christy Bullard Patterson. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John “Johnny” Bullock Patterson; beloved son, Jonathan Daniel Patterson; father, Rayman Washburn; mother, Madie Washburn; and a brother, Gordon Rayman Washburn.

Funeral services by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC  28301.  Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 2165 Middle Road, Eastover, NC  28312.
