Dennis E. Fortin, 85 of Rockland, Massachusetts (formerly Quincy and Hull), passed away peacefully with family and loved ones by his side on February 1, 2024.

Born in July of 1938, he grew up in Charlestown, Massachusetts attending Don Bosco Technical High School. As a youth he could be found at the Charlestown Boys and Girls Club or giving tours of the Bunker Hill Monument to tourists for fun. He cherished and spoke often about the opportunity his family was given to spend time at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.

He attended Don Bosco Technical High School for cabinet making and carpentry. Upon graduation he joined the Local 103 IBEW electrical union and eventually retired from the MBTA as an electrician.

He loved learning about trades and quickly mastered the art of building renovation and repairing anything and everything, eventually earning his Massachusetts State Building License. He went on to purchase and maintain his own properties and enjoyed sharing his trades knowledge and skills with his children and as a devoted Scout Leader in Quincy. He was a businessman, loved ingenuity, and never stopped moving forward during his life. Faith was also an important element in his life and dinner meals always started with a prayer of grace.

Cribbage, playing the banjo, traveling, wintering in Florida, and going for walks are just some of his favorite things to do. He read often, sailed, loved the ocean, and enjoyed life. Always ready to have a beer and share the laughter that comes along with the stories of a full life and that he had.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Bertha (Sheehan) and sister Winifred Trainor. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara (LoConte) Fortin. Father of Denise Patts and husband Ken, John and wife Trish, and David and wife Marion. Brother of Girard (Rocky) Fortin.

Grandfather of John, Samantha, Keith, and Sydney and great grandfather of Jameson, Jack, and Noah. Brother-in-law of Judy (Durocher) Fortin.
