Douglas “Haywood” Jacobs, 68, of Fayetteville passed away on February 1, 2024. Preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Dalton Jacobs, and siblings, Sandy Osborne, Bobby Jacobs, and Jerry Jacobs, Haywood leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Cindy Jacobs; sons, Dalton Jacobs and wife, Carrie, Jamie Smith and Nikki Beasley, and Justin Smith and wife, Kelsey. Haywood is also remembered by his sister, Ellen "Sissy" Smith and grandchildren, Aubry, Addison, Jaxon Smith, Ella Jacobs, and Isabell "Roey" Beasley.

Haywood's life was one of significant accomplishment and passion. With 36 years of dedicated service on Fort Bragg, he contributed immensely to his community. In his leisure time, he found joy in building race cars and classic cars, indulging in golf, and creating precious memories in the pool with his cherished grandchildren.

Among his most prized possessions were his beloved wife, Cindy, his three sons, five adored grandchildren, and his cherished Camaro. Haywood was known for his enormous heart and infectious laughter, leaving an enduring mark on the hearts of all who knew him. He will be missed by so many.

A funeral service in memory of Haywood will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home at 12:30 pm, with Reverend Jerry Groves officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service from 1:15 to 2:15 pm. Let us gather to celebrate a life well-lived and to find solace in the memories that will forever linger in our hearts.
