Fayetteville airport to unveil terminal renovations and expansion

Fayetteville Regional Airport will provide an update on its terminal renovations and expansion in an unveiling scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Dec. 7, according to a city news release.

The unveiling, which is open to the public, will be upstairs in the main terminal at 400 Airport Road.

The renovations include new and updated amenities including an entrance canopy; enhanced security screening area; reconstruction of the rental parking lot; Concourse B upgrades; new airline offices and counter spaces; new escalators and elevators; upgraded baggage claim wings; and new administrative offices, according to the news release.

“The infrastructure improvements we’ve made at the Fayetteville Regional Airport provide for an even better airport experience from the parking lots to the airline boarding doors,” said Airport Director Toney Coleman. “These include improved circulation within the building, improved safety and sTSA screening enhancements, ADA upgrades, and an upgraded restaurant and USO areas.”

The more than $37 million in renovations was financed through grants from the Federal Aviation Administration, state of North Carolina, and airport’s fund balance, the release said.

The Phase II renovations began in early 2020 after the completion of Phase I, which added four jet bridges; demolished and rebuilt Concourse A; added a restaurant; and upgraded utilities, the release said.

Airport officials said the renovations will save travelers time during the busy holiday travel season, the release said.
