Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity has partnered with the state to rebuild homes for two families in Sampson County who lost their homes in hurricanes Matthew and Florence, according to a news release.
A groundbreaking demolition for the project is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Aug. 23 at 1106 Phillips St. in Clinton.
Habitat is asking for volunteers to help the two families by volunteering on the build sites and donating to reduce the cost of the build, the release said.
Every dollar saved by collecting donations and using volunteer hours will be used to help more storm-affected families in the community with the partnership between North Carolina and Habitat, the release said.
Funding from the North Carolina Office of State Budget and Management's Disaster Recovery Homeowner Repairs and Reconstruction program will allow Habitat to demolish the storm-damaged homes and build replacement homes at no cost to the homeowners, the release said.
