The Fayetteville Fury Indoor Soccer League is set to kick off its 2024 season. The league, which features both men's and women's professional indoor soccer teams, promises a series of matches from January to May 2024.
At the conclusion of league play, a post-season tournament will crown champions in both the Men’s and Women’s Divisions. The regular season champions in both divisions will secure automatic berths in the post-season championship match. Meanwhile, the teams finishing second and third in the regular season will compete in a semi-final game, vying for the opportunity to advance to the championship game.
"The team has been preparing tirelessly, and we're eager to showcase our hard work on the field," General Manager Al Florez said. "The home openers are going to be incredibly exciting, and we can't wait to see our fans cheering us on."
Owner Phil Lin expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming season, "We're thrilled to enter our third year and continue to bring top-tier indoor soccer to Fayetteville. The community's support has been instrumental in our growth, and we aim to deliver an electrifying season ahead."
The Fury also has a new NISL Head Coach Rodrigo Byrne, who stands as a testament to a life enriched by football, with roots deeply embedded in the sport's rich legacy. His journey began in the nurturing grounds of Sport Boys in Peru, where the foundation of his passion for football was laid. His skills and dedication soon elevated him to the reserves of Atlante in Mexico's Primera A, followed by a stint with the Pumas reserves, where he continued to hone his craft.
The 12-game league schedule, comprising six home games and six away games, will commence from January to March. The Fayetteville Fury will mark their home opener on Saturday, Jan. 13, with an opening match against Albany Acres at the Crown Coliseum.
