Fayetteville infant dies after Tuesday shooting, police say

A Fayetteville infant has died after being shot Tuesday, the Fayetteville Police Department announced Thursday.

Brooklyn Crumpler, 5 months, was found in the 2200 block of Nicky Avenue  on Tuesday night after her father arrived at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center about 9:30 p.m. with a gunshot wound, according to a news release. Crumpler was airlifted to UNC Chapel Hill's medical center but died Wednesday, the release said.

Her father was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital, according to the release. 

Crumpler's death marks the second fatal shooting in Fayetteville this week.  A woman, whose name was not released, was shot in the 3400 block of Rosehill Road about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and died at the hospital, according to a news release. Another woman was also shot but received non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.
