Woodpeckers Sept. 6 ticket proceeds can go to Maui fire relief

Posted

With the recent catastrophic fires in Lahaina, Hawaii, the Fayetteville Woodpeckers has created a ticket link for the Sept. 6 game through which $5 for each ticket sold will be donated to help with relief efforts, according to a news release.

The Aloha United Way Maui Fire Relief Fund directs 100% of proceeds to support people affected by the devastating wildfires on the island. United Way partners with organizations such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army to distribute funds to people in need, the release said.

Fans are encouraged to show their support by wearing Aloha shirts to the Sept. 6 game, the release said. Hawaii print shirts will be available in the Birds’ Nest Team Store at a discount rate.

Sept. 6 is also the last Waggin’ Wednesday of the 2023 season. Fans can bring their pups to the ballpark for $1 with proof of up-to-date rabies, distemper, parvo and bordetella vaccines. Free pup cup treats are available with a concession stand purchase.

During the game, the Woodpeckers will highlight the 2023 dog show winners in the Waggin’ Wednesday Best in Show Finale, the release said.
