Foal seized from farm accused of animal abuse transferred to equine hospital

Posted

A foal and its mother were transferred from Cumberland County Animal Services to an equine hospital on Aug. 23 because of the severity of the foal’s injuries, according to a county news release.

The horses have been in the custody of Animal Services since being seized on Aug. 21 as part of an animal abuse investigation involving Witts End Quarter Horses.

On Tuesday, the foal remained in the care of the equine hospital and was responding well to treatment, according to the news release.

Another five horses that were seized remain at Cumberland County Animal Services under the care of an equine veterinarian.

No charges have been filed yet, and this remains an active investigation.
