Fortuna BMC, a national IT consulting and staffing firm, expanding to Cumberland County

The decision by the California-based company creates 50 remote call center jobs.

Fortuna BMC Inc., a California-based IT and business management consulting company, is expanding to Cumberland County.

The company is hiring for 50 remote call center jobs, the Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corp. said in a release.

The company provides customized information technology solutions including contact center support, enterprise resource planning, information security, project management, business process engineering and organizational change management, the release said.

Being close to Fort Bragg and the potential to hire service members separating from the military, veterans and military spouses played a part in the company’s decision.

“We are eager to select Fayetteville for our expansion on the East Coast due to its proximity and connection to Fort Bragg, the largest military installation in the United States by population,” said Jack Smith, CEO and founder of Fortuna BMC. “As a veteran of the United States Air Force, I can identify with the challenges presented by the military-to-civilian transition, such as fundamental career support, and helping others understand the skills I can bring to the table from serving my country in the armed forces.

“After our recent visit to Fayetteville, we are fully convinced that this is a welcoming community for organizations like Fortuna BMC that are passionate about connecting the military community to great job opportunities post-service.”

Rob Patton, the vice president for the Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corp., said job opportunities like those BMC brings will help ease the transition for service members leaving the military.

“Creating these types of employment opportunities for and within our local community brings financial stability, and it eases the post-service transition for many veterans,’’ Patton said. “We’re excited that Fortuna BMC selected our region as the place to create those meaningful connections, which will undoubtedly bridge the gap for the veterans.”

The company is also working with local community and educational institutions on workforce development and hiring initiatives, the release said. They include Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College, NCWorks Career Center, JMH Group, the Center for Economic Empowerment & Development, the Small Business and Technology Development Center, Fort Bragg’s Transition Assistance Program, and the economic and community development departments for the city of Fayetteville and Cumberland County, the release said.
