Gray’s Creek volleyball player, Cape Fear receiver turn in star performances

The Athletes of the Week in Cumberland County high schools excelled on the volleyball court and the football field.
Kenzie Bagley, Gray’s Creek, volleyball: Bagley had 25 service points in a row with 16 service aces against Douglas Byrd. She also had 14 assists. Against Lumberton, she had 16 assists and two kills.
Jeremiah Melvin, Cape Fear, football: In Cape Fear’s game with Wilmington Laney, Melvin had nine receptions for 219 yards and three touchdowns.
Also nominated: Kate Wilson, Cape Fear, golf.
