Hope Mills police: 1 pedestrian killed, another seriously injured in hit-and-run

HOPE MILLS — One man died and another was seriously injured early Friday while walking on Camden Road, the Hope Mills Police Department said.

Just after 12:30 a.m., a champagne-colored, late 1990s to early 2000s model year Toyota 4-Runner was traveling east on Camden Road when the driver hit two pedestrians near Thomas Street, police said in a release.

The driver failed to stop and continued driving on Camden Road toward Hope Mills Road, police said.

The names of the men have not been released. The Police Department is working to notify their families.
