We are sad to announce the passing of Col (Ret.) Howard William Edmiston, Jr. Howard died Monday, 18 July, at First Health Hospice in Moore County. He was born 17 March 1932 to parents, Howard Sr. and Julia Edmiston in Haddam, Ct.
Howard’s calling was to be a soldier. He served in the Army 33 years and was a combat veteran of Korea and Vietnam. A decorated soldier, loving husband, father, and grandfather. Howard loved his country and his family, making a better life for both.
Howard was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Barbara DeStefano and Inez Ressler. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dianne, four children: Howard (Karen) Edmiston III, Lorrie (Mike) Hoadley, Patricia (Mike) Monnett, and Robert (Margie) Edmiston, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, all who will miss him greatly.
A Funeral service will be held in his honor at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Bragg, NC, 5 August at 12:00 p.m.
