An inmate was found dead in her cell at the Cumberland County Detention Center on Thursday, according to the Sheriff's Office.

An inmate charged with drug possession was found dead in her cell at the Cumberland County Detention Center, according to a news release.
Tara Charles, 38, of Raeford, was found unresponsive about 7:15 a.m. Thursday in her single-person cell, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Her death is under investigation.
Records show that Charles was jailed on April 24 on charges of possession of a controlled substance.
The state medical examiner will determine the cause of death, the release said.
