Interim chief: Aggressive driving played role in fatal shooting

SPRING LAKE — Aggressive driving played a role in a weekend shooting that left a Fayetteville man dead, interim Spring Lake Police Chief Dysoaneik Spellman said.

Officers responded to a shooting on the 1900 block of North Bragg Boulevard at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Spellman said in a release Monday.

They found Alexander Gerome Williams, 31, of the 600 block of Brittany Place, in the roadway next to a vehicle. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

“Aggressive driving played a role in the shooting,’’ the release said.

The investigation is continuing.
