CANDIDATE QUESTIONNAIRE: Jonathan C. Strange

JONATHAN C. STRANGE: Cumberland County Board of Commissioners candidate

'My position as an attorney gives me a working background from which I can tackle the problems our county is facing'

Posted

Office sought: Cumberland County Commissioners, District 2

Party affiliation: Republican

Lives: Hope Mills

Age: 47

Works: The Strange Law Firm, P.C.

What’s your motivation for seeking office? I want to fight for systemic change that will bring benefits to the entire county, rather than just the individuals that come into my office. I want to expand access to public utilities, allowing countywide development and expansion of the tax base.

What uniquely qualifies you to serve? Being at the courthouse everyday, I see the problems that our county is dealing with, and I work to solve those problems. My position as an attorney gives me a working background from which I can tackle the problems our county is facing.

Fill in the blank: The top three issues in my municipality/district are ____, ____ and ____; and I would promote positive change by _____. The top three issues in my district are a lack of healthy drinking water, a lack of economic development and a lack of residential development. I would promote positive change by making access to clean drinking water a top priority for the county. Access to a more robust utility system fosters commercial and residential development. We need to make sure that all citizens in the county are benefitting from our county tax dollars.

What new policies or practices would you bring to your municipality/district that do not already exist? My primary goal is to make sure that all residents of District 2 have access to clean drinking water and with it, sustainable economic and residential development. Through increased development, we can see a reduction in taxes through an expanded tax base.
