The book signing is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 19 at City Center, 112 Hay St. in downtown Fayetteville.
DeVane was born in Fayetteville and covered military issues in the 1990s for the Observer. He traveled with Air Force troops to the Persian Gulf and to Haiti with Fort Bragg soldiers, according to the Observer’s website.
DeVane returned to the Observer in 2010 and covered education, government and other issues. He also led the military coverage team.
