It is with great sadness that the family of Kate McLeod announces her passing on Sunday, July 10th, 2022, at the age of 84. She passed away at her home peacefully in her sleep.

Kate was born on September 29th, 1937, as Kate Wenzel the daughter of Friedrich (Fritz) Wenzel from Waldhof Mannheim, Germany and Mina Wenzel born Mina Breimer.

She is survived by her husband, Alexander Edwin McLeod; her son, John Thomas McLeod; and her daughters, Rose Marie McLeod, Allison McLeod Voeller and her sister-in-law, Virginia Anne (McLeod) Redford. She is also survived by her siblings, Gatrude Wenzel Vogel, Helmut Wenzel, Marianne Wenzel Rammle and Gunther Wenzel. Kate is preceded in death by her siblings Ludwig Wenzel, Hannaloe Wenzel Job, Fritz Wenzel, and her Twin sister. All her nieces and nephews in Germany and in the USA. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Alexander and extended family of Alexander McLeod.

Kate was born on September 29th, 1937, as a Twin at her family home in Schonau-Mannheim, Germany. She became a preschool teacher and a factory worker to help her family. She soon got engaged and married Alexander Edwin McLeod, their marriage lasting just short of 59 years. She became an army wife of 30 years and spent the rest of her life as a housewife, excellent mother with a big heart and an awesome friend too many. She was fun, loving, caring and giving, and playful.

She will be deeply missed by so many. May God keep you in the palm of his hand. Rest in peace our Dear Sweet Kathe.

A Visitation Service will be held at 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, July 20, at Rogers and Breece with Reverend John Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
