Leo Albert Furrell

Leo Albert Furrell passed away on Friday, February 9th, 2024 at Highsmith Rainey Hospital.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Frieda Furrell; his spouse Giovanna Furrell; his brothers Carl Robert Furrell and Albert Furrell Jr.; his sisters Edna Louise Furrell and Margrete Elizabeth Chance.

Leo is survived by his son Gene P. Furrell ( Sheila) of Fayetteville, NC;  his grandchildren Michael G. Furrell ( Danielle) of Hope Mills, NC and Catherine Page Owens ( Jeff) of Wilmington, NC; his sisters Helen M. Grandstaff of Van Wert, Ohio and Clarabelle Smith ( Fred) of Van Wert, Ohio; his great grandchildren Isabella Owens, Amelia Owens, Anthony Furrell, Alexander Furrell, Jaxon Furrell and Justin Furrell; Leo was blessed with many nieces and nephews. 

Leo's life has always been one of faith, service  to others and a firm commitment to all things that he chose to undertake, He stood fast on his beliefs and set an example for others by his wise ways. He used his life long passion for gardening to bring delight to those who stopped by his house to gather tomatoes or ship a few clippings from many flowering bushes. As of recent, at his apartment at Heritage Place, he continued  to brighten the day of the residents with his colorful, seasonal window boxes and planters. He would place these throughout the buildings and patios " To make it look like home." His warm smile and encouraging demeanor will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. 

A Funeral Service will be held on February 14th 2024, at 2:00 PM at Hay Street United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Lafayette Memorial Park at 3:00 PM with full Military Honors.
