Aberdeen street to close for water, sewer relocation work

Posted

Sections of North Poplar Street in Aberdeen will be closed to through traffic this month, the N.C. Department of Transportation said in a news release.

Crews relocating water and sewer lines on a 1.4-mile stretch from Elm Street to just north of Blues Crossing Lane are expected to finish work in May 2024, the release said.

A signed detour directs motorists around the closure, which will be in effect Monday through Friday. All roads will be open on weekends and holidays, the release said.

Once work on a section of the road is done, the contractor will open the completed section before closing the next.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down and use caution when approaching the work zone, the release said.
