Luiz Fernando Escudero, 73, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, passed away on 31 January, 2024. Preceded in death by his parents, Luiza Gomes Escudero and José Lopes Escudero, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and sibling, Luciano Escudero, of São Paulo, Brazil, leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Stella Escudero; son and Catholic Priest, Fr. Diogo Escudero; daughter, Tatiana Rivera; son-in-law, Juan Rivera, and granddaughter, Valentina Rivera. He also leaves behind his sibling Reinaldo Escudero, and cousin, Luciano Escudero.

Luiz first arrived in the United States in 1984 to participate in a medical fellowship in California. He fell in love with this country and years later decided to bring his family. His ultimate dream was to provide his children with the best education and opportunities in life.

Luiz's life was one of significant accomplishment and passion. With 40+ years of dedicated service as an obstetrician doctor in Brazil, he contributed immensely to the world by delivering thousands of babies throughout his career. In his leisure time, he found joy in reading books, riding his bicycle, and indulging in outdoor activities. He absolutely loved sports, especially his beloved “Vasco da Gama” soccer team, exercising, and time spent with family.

Among his most prized possessions were his beloved wife, Stella, his son Diogo and his daughter, Tatiana. Luiz was known to be the best soccer coach, based on “his own opinion”, and loved coaching. He was also extremely intelligent, and he put it to use in the most difficult cases of medicine placed before him. He will leave an enduring mark on the hearts of all who knew him. He will be missed by so many.

A visitation service in memory of Luiz will be held on Wednesday, 7 February 2024, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home at 500 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC, 28301, from 6-8pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 2844 Village Dr., Fayetteville, NC, 28304, on Thursday, 8 February at 1pm. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral mass. Let us gather to celebrate a life well-lived and to find solace in the memories that will forever linger in our hearts.
