Myron Lee Hodge

Ret. CMSGT, Myron Lee Hodge, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, surrounded by his family and friends at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Myron was born on October 31, 1952, in El Cajon, California to the late Wilson "Leiland" and Pearl Mae Hodge. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Marie Hodge; daughter, Michelle Lynn Hodge; brothers, John Claude Murray, Henry Alan Hodge, and Wilson "Billy" Hodge Jr. and one grandson, Aiden Hodge-Cowan.

Myron proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for over 30 years. He began his military career in Charleston, SC on April 14, 1972, and his first duty station was Pope AFB. He met and married the love of his life Donna at McGuire AFB, where they were both serving in the Air Force on August 9, 1975. During his career, Donna and Myron enjoyed his duty stations around the world, while building their family. He completed his active duty military career with the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant, where it all began, at Pope Air Force Base on August 31, 2002. After retiring from active duty, Myron continued his dedication to the United States Air Force by beginning his civilian career at Pope Air Force Base. He worked in the Operation Plans/XP office for the 43rd Airlift Wing, which is now the 43rd Air Mobility Operations Group for 20 years and held his position to the day he went to be with the Lord.

Myron was an avid golfer, who lived to golf and enjoy his time with his golf buddies. He especially enjoyed his Saturday morning foursome with Frenchy, Beth, and Lenny. He continued his love for travel after his active duty service by traveling all over the United States and even to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to visit his cherished friends. He enjoyed bowling with the Guys and Gals League and the Tuesday night Air Force League. He cherished his time at the beach with his family every summer at North Topsail Beach, where they enjoyed fishing and family time. He liked being known as the "Tech Guy" and was very savvy on the computer. Most of all, Myron will be remembered for being a devoted Christian and for his love for the Lord. He was an active member of Liberty Church in Spring Lake since 2003, where he served as a trustee and also enjoyed the fellowship of his adult small group.

Myron is survived by his children, his son Carl Lee Hodge and his daughter Stephanie Pearl Hodge; sister, Debra (John) Slayton; sisters-in-law, Shirley Murray and Hedy Ann Hodge; grandchildren, Tristan Robert Cowan, Mallory Michelle Cowan, Ainsley Louise Cowan, Leanna Marie Hodge, Isabella Rose Hodge, and Emma Rose Hodge Smith. He also leaves to cherish their many memories together with his best friend and golf partner, Beth Brocious.

The family will receive family and friends on Monday, January 29, 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. at Liberty Church in Spring Lake. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:00 noon at the church. Burial with full military honors for he and his wife, Donna will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, NC.
