Mr. Palestine Matthews, Jr., 74, of 1843 Elliot Farm Road, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022, in his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 12:45 pm Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Archie Barringer officiating. Interment will follow in the Matthews and Hair family cemetery in Fayetteville. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Matthews of the home, and son, Richard Matthews of the home; sister, Faye Robinson of Fayetteville, three brothers, Earl Matthews and wife Judy of Fayetteville, Donald Ray Matthews and wife Sue of Spring Lake, Harold Matthews and wife Edna of Fayetteville. Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by his parents Palestine and Cladie Matthews; brothers Ernest Fred Matthews, Henry Matthews and Mickey Matthews.
