Players of the Week: Christian Rutledge, Taylor Baggett

Here are my picks for Cumberland County’s high school Athletes of the Week:

• Christian Rutledge, South View, football

Rutledge carried the ball 21 times for 178 yards and scored a whopping six touchdowns in South View’s season-opening 47-22 victory against Overhills.

• Taylor Baggett, Gray’s Creek, volleyball

A sophomore outside hitter for the Bears, Baggett had 31 kills, two blocks, two aces and nine digs last week in matches with Midway and D.H. Conley.
