Standout performances by athletes at Cape Fear and Pine Forest earn them Athlete of the Week honors.
Geronimo Sanchez, football, Cape Fear: Sanchez threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for a third in Cape Fear’s 42-0 win over Lumberton. The contest was stopped at halftime because of an injury.
Alexis Paquin, golf, Pine Forest: Paquin, a sophomore, turned in an outstanding round of 42-34-76 at King’s Grant to win the weekly All American Conference golf tournament Monday. For the season, Paquin is the only golfer in the league with a nine-hole stroke average under 40. She currently stands at 39.6.
