Ray Dyson Culbreth, 64, passed away unexpectedly on November 8, 2022. He was born on February 6, 1958, to Julius Clarence Culbreth and Mary Lois Dyson.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are sisters, Mary Ann Carlin of Fayetteville and Joyce Kirkman of Climax, NC; nieces, Ariel Carlin of Fayetteville and Shannon Dennis of Moncks Corner, SC; nephew, Shawn Kirkman of High Point, NC; 5 great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

As a young man in Florida after high school, Ray learned to lay ceramic tile. He would go on to become self-employed in the home improvement industry.

Ray was a kind, generous fun-loving man. He truly enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Ray was a music lover, especially live music. Whether it was a local band, or a national act did not matter, Ray loved a good show.  Sports were important to him as well. His favorites included UNC basketball, Nascar, Carolina Hurricanes, Baltimore Orioles, and the Washington Redskins. Ray was a great cook, even winning a chili cook-off once! Although he could prepare all kinds of dishes, grilling was his preferred cooking method. Travel was another favorite pastime. Ray visited many states, but a beach was his happy place. He loved to swim, fish, eat seafood and party!

Ray's generosity became evident upon his untimely death in his decision to become an organ donor years ago. His anatomical gifts will improve the lives of others as he lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home, followed by a graveside commitment ceremony at Cumberland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM – 12:45 PM.
