The family of Runette Smith would like to acknowledge all the prayers, calls, cards, visits, and words of comfort during this precious transition in life. Just know that it means so much and we will hold onto it in the trying days ahead. Thank you and love to each and every one of you. Be blessed.

A daughter. A sister. A mother. A friend. Family. Runette Smith. Born January 17, 1955 to Jimmy Lynwood Smith (d) and Dorothea Martin Smith. One sister Wynola Smith. Brothers: Jimmy Lee (Chico) Smith (d), Joseph Lynwood Smith, Carnell Smith (d), Lee Morris Smith, Lee Daniel Smith, Jamez-Russell Bouvier O’nassis

Son, Kenny O’Neal Smith. Daughter, Vonetta Deshon Smith Easter. Grandchildren: Ebony Hargrove, Fredrick Cook, Kennedy Smith. Host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Runette graduated from Lumberton High School June 1975. Attended cosmetology school as well as took several classes through the years in various studies. She worked for the Hardees Corporation for many years and received several certificates for ‘Team Member of the Month.’ She worked for Aramark Services at the Fayetteville State University campus where she was awarded for 20 years of service and received many ‘Certificates of Appreciation’ throughout her tenure. She really loved her time there and being a part of ‘the campus life’...special thanks to FSU. She retired in 2020 and enjoyed being at home where she loved to hone her creativity skills with floral and family picture arrangements. She departed this life at her home October 2022.

Runette enjoyed talking with family and friends with her “I’m just talking crazy.” And then she would laugh. That’s how she would want us to remember her.
