Sheriff’s Office investigating assault on Ireland Drive

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an alleged assault that was reported late Tuesday on Ireland Drive.

Deputies responded to the 365 Fast Mart after receiving a call about a physical disturbance shortly after 11 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office said in a release.

They found David Hurley, 42, of Fayetteville, who had been assaulted by two men, the Sheriff’s Office said. Hurley was examined by EMS personnel and taken to a hospital for treatment, the release said.

Two men left the area in a black sedan before deputies arrived. Detectives are trying to identify the men, who were seen on surveillance video.
