Mary Catherine Shook led the Cape Fear women’s team to the United 8 Conference championship last week. She earned four gold medals, winning the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. She was named co-high point swimmer of the year and is unbeaten in conference swimming.

Gaillard helped the Tigers go 2-0 for the week with a 57-49 win over Jack Britt and a 57-52 win over Seventy-First. She averaged 14.0 points per game, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals. According to the latest United 8 conference standings, the Tigers are 11-4 overall, 6-1 in the league. They hold second place in the conference and have a three-game winning streak.
