Here’s everything you need to know about the board’s first agenda for the year:

Award recognitions

The board will recognize several county employees who recently received awards for their work.

  • Commissioner Jeannette Council, Director of Public Health Jennifer Green and the Cumberland County Department of Social Services each received Kindness Awards from the Partnership for Children of Cumberland County, according to a memorandum from the board’s clerk, Andrea Tebbe.

Cumberland County will kick off 2024 with a county career fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 12 and 13 at the Crown Expo Center at 1960 Coliseum Drive, according to a memorandum from Human Resources Director Dominique Hall. This is for people interested in working for the county.

The fair’s theme is “New Year, New Career! Empower your Future,” Hall wrote.

The fair will offer interview and career skills training seminars and department spotlights from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on both days and mock interview assistance from noon to 1 p.m. on both days, Hall said.

The fair will also offer an interview clothing giveaway, criminal record expungement services, professional headshots, military transition services and resume writing assistance, according to Hall’s memorandum.

The county is working on coordinating transportation to and from the fair, Hall wrote. The fair will also offer food and refreshments and an Internet cafe, she said.
