Do your children or teens struggle to find books they like to read? Do you feel overwhelmed by the number of books to browse through when visiting the library? Do you need help figuring out what books your children and teens might like?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then we are here to help.
The Cumberland County Public Library announces two new, exciting online services that are specifically designed to help children and teens find books they will enjoy reading.
Book Match is already available for adults. Now, because of its success, the library has expanded Book Match for younger library patrons. Book Match Jr. is a readers’ advisory service for the parents of children up to 12 years of age; Book Match Teen is a readers’ advisory service designed for ages 13-18.
To get these personalized reading recommendations from a real-life librarian, simply fill out the online form on our website at cumberlandcountync.gov/library. We will match you and your child with books we think you will love.
The form consists of questions about your child’s or teen's reading interests and mood. You can also tell us about books your child has already read and enjoyed so that we can recommend similar selections. Librarians will review the submitted information and search for the best possible book matches.
Maybe your child enjoys silly and funny books about dragons or maybe they prefer a story full of action/adventure that includes a little history. Whatever your child is interested in, we can find a book that will include those interests and fit their reading preferences.
To take advantage of this service, go visit the library online at cumberlandcountync.gov/library and click on the Catalog/My Account Icon. Then scroll down and click on Book Match Jr. or Book Match Teen and fill out the form as completely as possible. The more information you provide, the better our recommendations will be. Each personalized reading list will be emailed within one week of your submission. You are welcome to use this service as many times as you like. We are waiting to hear from you!
