Now through June 18, the Airborne & Special Operations Museum will have a new, interactive augmented reality experience titled "D-Day: Freedom From Above'' exhibit.

Alphabet Hike

An Alphabet Hike is scheduled for March 15  from 10 to 11 a.m. at Lake Rim Park, 2214 Tar Kiln Drive.  Admission is free. Children will search for the letters of the alphabet on this guided hike. Each letter is a clue to something that is found in the park.

  Clark Park Nature Center is having a guided mountain bike tour on March 12 starting at 8:30 a.m. at the nature center, 631 Sherman Drive.  Admission is free.

The Cumberland County Public Library kicks off the 13th annual Storytelling Festival at Segra Stadium on March 11 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to this free family-friendly event.

Bell's Seed Store presents a free seminar with Bryce Lane, the host of PBS' "In the Garden," on March 12 at 10 a.m. The event will be at 230 E. Russell St.  

Hire GI presents the Fort Bragg Hybrid Career Fair on March 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Iron Mike Conference Center, 2658 Reilly Road. Admission is free.

Fayetteville Technical Community College will be accepting  scholarship applications for fall 2022 and spring 2023 through March 31. To apply, go to www.faytechcc.edu/scholarships or go to the Harry F. Shaw Virtual College Center, Room 114, on campus at 2225 Hull Road.  There is no cost to apply and the great thing about scholarships is, they do not need to be repaid. 

A community prayer service for Ukraine and for the world is scheduled for March 10 at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church, 509 Ramsey St.

Directed by Sweet Tea Shakespeare’s Education Director Sarah Chapman, "Pride & Prejudice'' will be performed at The Capitol Encore Academy, 126 Hay St., on March 11 at 6:30 p.m. and March 12 and 13 at 2 p.m.  Enter the building at the rear via Old Street. Look for the giant, colorful mural.

A Read Across America Scavenger Hunt is scheduled for March 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown Fayetteville. It is sponsored by the Cumberland County Association of Educators.

The Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex presents "Pastimes and Professions of the 19th Century,'' a living history event at Arsenal Park on April 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will focus on civilian life in the Cape Fear region during the late 19th century. Admission is free.

Baseball returns to Segra Stadium with the All-American Classic, presented by Walsingham Group Inc., showcasing Campbell Baseball, Ohio State University Baseball, Army West Point Athletics and the University of Pittsburgh. Single-day tickets and three-day passes are available for purchase.

The Fayetteville Woodpeckers have announced that Building 429, a Grammy-nominated Christian rock band from Fayetteville, will perform following the Faith & Family Night game presented by Manna Church on May 14.

Astronaut visit

The Airborne & Special Operations Museum will host a visit with Col. Andrew R. Morgan, a NASA astronaut, on March 5 from 11 a.m. to noon. Morgan will discuss his experience aboard the International Space Station in 2019 and share several artifacts from his NASA experience. 

"Jersey Boys''

The Crown Theatre presents "Jersey Boys,'' the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, on April 28 at 1960 Coliseum Drive.

The Bachelor Live on Stage Official Tour presents Rodney Matthews from Season 18  on April 9 at 7 p.m. at the Crown Theatre, 1960 Coliseum Drive.  Tickets are available at www.capefeartix.com, the Crown box office, and Fort Bragg Leisure Travel Services.

The 15th annual Bread ’n Bowls to support Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch is scheduled for Feb. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, 701 Westmont Drive. Choose from potato soup or chili served in a fresh baked bread bowl. The cost is $10 in advance, $15 at the door on Friday.
