The annual meeting of the board of directors for Community Concerts of Fayetteville is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at 2919 Breezewood Ave., Suite 300. The meeting is open to the public.

In celebration of art inspired by Black History and its contributions to American artforms, CONSERVING LEGACIES: Past, Present and Future is an awe-inspiring art exhibition depicting the history and creative culture of the Black experience in America.

Enjoy a "Night of Music" featuring Ernie Haase and Signature Sound with The Hoppers on Feb. 27 at Fayetteville Community Church, 2010 Middle River Loop. The concert starts at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online prior to Feb. 21 or at the door.

The Rick Herrema Foundation will host the Meet Us at the Park- Rapid Deployment Impacted Families Event on Feb. 26 from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be several inflatable activities, yard games and music.  All of these activities and food, provided by Mr. Patrick with Hot Dog Central, will be free for the families. Registration is required.

Lake Rim Park presents Love Quest Feb. 10-21. Several pairs of "love birds" have gotten separated in the park. Go on a quest around the park to help match the birds with their partners.

HUMC Carnival

The Argo-Aycock Concert Series and the Arts Council of Fayetteville-Cumberland County present HUMC Carnival, an evening of jazz featuring Andrew Sanchez and his hip six. The performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at the New Life Center at Haymount United Methodist Church, 1700 Fort Bragg Road. Admission is free.

MLK Prayer Brunch

Out of concern for the safety of all our supporters, students and youth involved, the annual Dr. MLK Jr. Brunch and Youth Extravaganza is now Monday, Feb. 21 at the Crown Exposition Center at 10 a.m. The  keynote speaker is Darrell T. Allison, chancellor at Fayetteville State University.

Four Women

Book Black Women, a nonprofit dedicated to providing performance opportunities for black women, will put on its first show Four Women on Feb. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Skyview on Hay, 121 Hay St. The black-tie event will include a live show, light hor d'oeuvres, a full bar, a photo booth and gifts. Mystery Dinner

Join the Fayetteville Community Lions Club  at Volta Space on Sunday, Feb. 13, for a delicious dinner and enjoy the mystery. Money raised will help eradicate blindness, support youth, provide disaster relief, protect the environment and address humanitarian needs.

The Cumberland County Library will host a Friends of the Library book sale Feb. 21-23 and Feb. 26-27 at the Headquarters Library downtown, 300 Maiden Lane. The Nancy H. Blackmon Legacy Scholarship will host its first annual golf tournament at King’s Grant Golf and Country Club on April 9.

The Miss Fayetteville Scholarship Pageant is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Fayetteville Community Church, 2010 Middle River Loop. The pageant is a preliminary to the Miss North Carolina pageant. The Miss Fayetteville Dogwood Festival Pageant is being postponed to Sept. 17. The application process will reopen in May with a deadline of Aug. 26. Interest meetings are expected to be held July 31 and Aug. 21. 

The Airborne & Special Operations Museum will host a new temporary exhibit, “Drawn to Combat: Bill Mauldin and the Art of War,” Dec. 20 through June 11. The exhibit, on loan from the Pritzker Military Museum and Library, features nearly 150 of the Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist’s original drawings and published cartoons, as well as personal material from his career. The museum is at 100 Bragg Blvd.

Blood Drive
