Animal Services waiving pet adoption fees through Saturday

Posted

Cumberland County Animal Services is waiving the adoption fee for all pets through Saturday, the county said in a release.

"Animal Services periodically will request to waive adoptions fees from the county manager for a variety of reasons,” Animal Services Director Elaine Smith said in the release. “In this case, we are making every effort to find homes for the animals currently housed here due to a state-mandated resurfacing the floors of our large dog kennels.”

The adoption fee for dogs usually is $100. It is $70 for cats, the release said. All adopted pets will be vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered.

“Since we will temporarily lose half of our large dog housing capacity in the resurfacing project, we are hoping to adopt out as many pets as possible to loving homes to prevent having to potentially euthanize animals for lack of space,” Smith said.

Animal Services is at 4704 Corporation Drive. It is open for adoptions on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m.
