Joe Steven "Sam" McLamb, 49, of Linden passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 3, 2022.

Sam was a brother, father, uncle, and friend to us all. He is survived by one daughter, Kristen Emmons and husband Dean; one son, Brandon McLamb and wife Haley; two sisters, Susan McLamb Gray and Jan McLamb Garza; one granddaughter, Kensley "KK" Emmons and many family members and friends.

Sam was a skilled carpenter for 30+ years, where he met and befriended many people over the years. He even built his own home. He was a good hardworking man, and would do for others without ever wanting things in return. For example, one time two children moved close by to Sam who had never been fishing, he said every child should know how to fish, so he took them out on the boat that same day. Sam worked hard, but his enjoyment from life came from the times he spent with his family and friends.

Sam was a true country man and enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved to fish anywhere, the pond or the beach, it didn’t matter. He loved his beach house. It was his home away from home. He loved to cook and grill and to have people over to gather. We hung out every weekend at Sam’s house, and let me tell you it was a good time.

He loved his children and his granddaughter more than anything in this world. That was his one passion in life was to take care of the people he loved. He adored his granddaughter Kensley, but we all call her “KK”, she calls him “Papa Sam”. He “sugared” her up every chance he got. He would buy her a “snack”, but  it would be a big fruit tray. He always did anything he could for his children. At one point in Sam’s life when times had got tough he sold all his hunting dogs so he could spend more time and buy things that his children needed. He did for others before be did for himself, his daddy was that kind of man too.  He was the kind of friend that would just go and ask questions later. He lived life to the fullest, he loved to have a good time. “To go hard or to go home.” We would always say that if you rode four wheelers or a side by side with Sam you were likely to brake something. He was loved by family, friends, his crew, his boss, he was loved by everyone. He was a generous, kind, and hard working man. He was a God fearing man and was firm in his beliefs, values and what he stood for. He relaxed on Sundays, the day of rest. If you knew Sam, you knew he always had a pair of blue jeans on, a t-shirt, maybe a hat, some work boots, a mixed drink in hand and a pack Marlboros in his shirt pocket.
