Leona Mary McNutt, 80, of Spring Lake, NC, passed away at her residence on October 25, 2022.
Leona is survived by her husband, William Allen McNutt III. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 29, 2022. She is also survived by three children she brought into this world: daughters, Christine Ciscia Dunwoodie and Lisa Marie MacNaughton-Morris; a son, LTC William Allen MacNaughton IV, as well as five grandchildren.
Leona was a talented artist and loving and caring mother and wife. She worked side by side with her husband as a legal transcriber/typist. She was a gifted needle point, cross stitch, crochet and knitting expert, garnering many awards and blue ribbons, owning and operating a commercial “Ye Olde Needlework” store in Pembroke, New York. Extended family members and friends cherish Lee's handmade gifts of afghans, sweaters and other gems.
Throughout their married life, Lee and Bill traveled the world but her most beloved time and location was Arizona, where they lived for over 35 years, and Puerto Penasco, Mexico where they had a casita on the shores of the Sea of Cortez. In retirement nine years ago, they moved to North Carolina.
Leona’s greatest pleasure in life was loving, sharing and giving. She will be deeply missed and may her soul rest in God's arms.
