Sanford George Rackley, Jr., 81 of Fayetteville, passed away at his home on February 7, 2024. Mr. Rackley was born in Wilmington on October 5, 1942. He is the son of the late Sanford George Rackley, Sr. and Sarah Colvin Rackley.
Mr. Rackley’s family moved from Wilmington to Fayetteville when he was five years old. Mr. Rackley took the Brick Mason courses at Fayetteville Technical Institute and worked as a Brick Mason for over 40 years in Northern VA; Richmond, VA; and Fayetteville, NC areas. He retired in 2005 from Larry Horne Masonry.
Mr. Rackley is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gail Johnson Rackley; a daughter, Anne Rackley Dwiggins and husband Chris of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Sean Michael Quay of Colorado, Daniel Kenneth Quay of New Jersey, and Patrick Broly Dwiggins of Fayetteville; a sister, Kate Rackley O’Brien and husband Pat of Fayetteville.
