Scott Horton

Scott Eugene Horton, 65, of Sanford, North Carolina passed away on February 12th at his home in Carolina Lakes.

Scott, the eldest of three children, was born on July 30, 1958 in Blossburg, PA and grew up in Mansfield, where he was raised by Myron (Ronnie) and Donna Horton.

Scott graduated from Mansfield High School in 1976 and went into the United States Air Force shortly after graduation in 1977. He served in the Air Force for 22 years, achieving the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Scott married his best friend, Rebecca (Becky) Sue Van der Hiel on April 28th, 1979. Scott, his late wife Becky, and their son Chris were fortunate enough to have visited many different countries and experienced various cultures around the world while serving. After the military, Scott worked for Goodyear as an Industrial Electrician. Scott loved spending time on the golf course, boating on the lake, and cooking for his family and friends. He will be remembered best for his immense work ethic, stubbornness, infectious laughter, strong will and his passion for the ones closest to him.

Scott is preceded in death by his wife Rebecca Sue Horton.

Scott is survived by his son, Christopher Joseph Horton; sisters, Denise Hayes and Terry Jo Carter (Bruce); niece, Kelly Hayes (Brandon); nephews, Abraham Alexander Smith (Cristina) and Kyle Hayes; great nephew, Beau Hayes and many, many friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Scott’s memory to the VFW post 6757, 1208 South Main Street - P.O. Box 73, Mansfield, PA, 16933

There will be a visitation for family and friends held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 11:30am until 1:00pm at Adcock Funeral Home, Spring Lake. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00pm at Adcock Funeral Home. There will be a reception to follow the service at Drifters Country Saloon, Fayetteville.
