The Fayetteville Rose Society presents Art of the Rose Paint- Out on May 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Fayetteville Rose Garden on the campus of Fayetteville Technical Community College, 2225 Hull Road. 

The Crown Complex in association with the Cape Fear Valley Blood Donor Center is having a Pint For a Pint blood drive on Thursday, May 19, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Crown Complex, 1960 Coliseum Drive.  Donate a pint of blood and receive a pint from Blue Bell Ice Cream or a $6 voucher from Dirt Bag Ales. Walk-ins welcome. Donors will need to have a photo ID.

Sound the Alarm

The American Red Cross is partnering with the town of Hope Mills Fire Department, Cape Fear CERT and United Way of Cumberland County on May 21  from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Hope Mills to install 300 free smoke alarms for vulnerable households. Register at SoundTheAlarm.org/enc to schedule an appointment for a free smoke alarm installation during this event.

Blood Drive

In honor of Law Enforcement Memorial Week, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office will be partnering with The Blood Connection for a blood drive on Wednesday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event will occur outside in the front parking lot of Cumberland County courthouse at 117 Dick St.

STARworks and wood fire potters of North Carolina will host the Envision: Woodfire N.C. conference May 27-29, in Star.

Cape Fear Studios presents its seventh annual Alpha Romeo Tango Exhibit May 9 to May 24 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The studio is a 148 Maxwell St. The exhibit includes entries featuring the diverse, multi-media talent of local artists with military backgrounds.

Cape Beard: Follicles of Freedom are hosting the 10th Annual Pig Pickin for Autism event on May 21, 10:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.  at Fort Bragg Harley Davidson, 3950 Sycamore Dairy Road. …

Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Cumberland County Library will have a book sale in May at the Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane. Friends members may shop May 16-17 from noon to 6 p.m. The book sale opens to the public May 20-22. Those hours are:  May 20, noon to 5 p.m.; May 21, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and May 22, 2 to 5 p.m.

The Friends of the Cumberland County Library will have a book sale Aug. 25-27 at the Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane. Friends members may shop Aug. 21 from noon to 6 p.m.

The North Carolina Spring Home Expo is scheduled for May 20 to May 22 at the Crown Expo Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will showcase everything from kitchen and bath remodels to interior design and home furniture.

United Way and the American Red Cross are partnering to host a blood drive this Friday, May 13th at First Presbyterian Church. Blood is critically low right now, so join me in signing up to save lives! …

New date: Pet Fest of the Sandhills is scheduled for Sunday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hope Mills Park, 5770 Rockfish Road.

A "Raising of the N.C. state flag" ceremony is scheduled for May 16 at 8 a.m. at the flag pole by the main entrance to Howard Hall Elementary School, 526 Andrews Road.

Gardenmania

 Gardenmania is scheduled for May 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m at Cape Fear Botanical Garden, 536 N. Eastern Blvd. Admission is free.

The Oak Ridge Boys are scheduled to perform May 13 at  7:30 p.m. at the Crown Theatre, 1960 Coliseum Drive. This is a rescheduled event. The concert had been scheduled for April 29, 2021. Tickets sold for the 2021 show will be honored for the new performance date.

His Outreach Worldwide is having a barbecue fundraiser on May 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2770 Breezewood Ave. The cost is $10 per plate, and people may eat in or take out. There will be live entertainment by Currie Wayne Clayton.

Fort Bragg Fair

The Fort Bragg Fair is scheduled for April 27 to May 8 at the Fort Bragg Fairgrounds at Howell Street and Bragg Boulevard. On weekdays, gates open at 5 p.m. On weekends, gates open at 1 p.m.

2022 Legacy Ball

The Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation presents the 2022 Legacy Ball on May 21 from 6 to 11 p.m. at the museum, 100 Bragg Blvd. The event, which celebrates the history of airborne and special operations soldiers, will include cocktails, dinner, entertainment, live music and dancing. The Fayetteville Woodpeckers will play the Fredericksburg Nationals at Segra Stadium  May 31 to June 5. Start times vary. The May 31 - June 3 games start at 7:05 pm. The June 4 game starts at 5:05 p.m. The June 5 game starts at 2:05 p.m.

The North Carolina Homeowner Assistance Fund  is hosting pop-up sites for program information, guidance in the application process and application support.   The Cumberland County event will be at the Salvation Army, 245 Alexander St., on May 4 from 10 a.m.  to 5 p.m.

Derby Run

The Derby Run, in memory of Justin Lopes, is scheduled for 7 a.m.  May 14 at Terry Sanford High School, 2301 Fort Bragg Road.  To register, go to The Derby Run Online Registration (runsignup.com).

 Mother's Day Carriage Rides are scheduled for May 7 from  1 to 9 p.m. in downtown Fayetteville. The private carriage rides will arrive and depart from the Cool Spring Downtown District office at 222 Hay St., across from Pierros Italian Bistro. Tickets are a flat fee of $75, and one ticket purchase covers a group of two to six people.

The Arts Council of Fayetteville-Cumberland County presents its “4th annual 10:10:10 Exhibit – 10 NC Artists, 10 Linear Feet, 10 Self-Curated Exhibitions” on display through May 21 at The Arts Center, 301 Hay St. The exhibit is free and open for public viewing.

The Death by Admiration tour featuring Christian bands Seventh Day Slumber, Decyfer Down, Spoken and Amongst the Giants is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 5 at Festival Park. Admission is free.
